NEW CASTLE —
A West Side man is facing charges following an alleged domestic incident that involved a baby.
New Castle police arrested Robert Louis Henley Jr., 20, of 24 N. Lee Ave., who is accused of punching his girlfriend in the ear and throwing her out of the house to keep her away from her 9-month-old.
Officers said they went to the house around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday but Henley refused to open the door. When police threatened to force the door open, he told them he had the baby with him at the door.
Additional officers were summoned and were prepared to force open the door when Henley surrendered, according to police. The baby was found sleeping upstairs.
Henley is charged with simple assault, obstructing administration of law and harassment.
He was arraigned by District Judge Jerry Cartwright, who set bond at $2,500. He was released on bail, pending his preliminary hearing.
