NEW CASTLE —
An Ellwood City woman died Tuesday of injuries suffered in a pedestrian-car accident Monday morning.
Thelma Daugherty, 82, of 225 Third St. died at Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh, Ellwood City police said.
She was struck by a car driven by Lois G. Richards, 82, of 225 Country Club Drive, Ellwood City, around 10:30 a.m., according to police.
Richards was traveling south on Seventh Street, police said, and making a left turn onto Lawrence Avenue. Richards told police she had seen Daugherty crossing the street and felt the pedestrian was clear of the path of the vehicle as she began her turn, according to police.
The driver side front fender struck Daugherty, and the force of the impact knocked her to the ground, police said, adding Richards pulled her car into a parking space on Lawrence Avenue and stopped.
Daugherty remained on the ground, police said, and had injuries to her left arm and head.
Ambulance and Ellwood City Fire Department personnel treated her at the scene, police said, and she was then transported to Presbyterian Hospital.
