Man hospitalized after fire

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle man remains in critical condition after being pulled Friday from his burning home by New Castle firefighters.

The man was rescued after firefighters responded to a call at 9:06 p.m. Friday at 1421 Wilson Ave. and found him trapped inside. He was taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital, then transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Pittsburgh.

New Castle Fire Department Assistant Chief Mike Petrone declined to release the man’s name.

Petrone said the man was alone in the house at the time of the fire. A dog and a bird also were removed safely from the home and are in the care of family and neighbors.

Petrone said the house had significant damage, and that the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Have you held or will you hold a garage/yard sale this year?

I have and it was a success! It's a great way to get rid of some junk and make a little extra pocket money.
I have, but it didn't go over so well. Better luck next time?
I haven't yet, but I plan to.
I haven't and I don't plan to. It's not for me.
