Parolee jailed for Mahoningtown burglary

NEW CASTLE — A state parolee has been arrested for allegedly breaking into a vacant house in Taylor Township, near Mahoningtown.

New Castle police said they caught Thomas Anthony Perod, 25, of 713 N. Cedar St. after he allegedly broke into the basement of a house in the 1100 block of North Liberty Street around 4 p.m. Monday.

Police said a caller had reported seeing a flashlight in the window of the neighbor’s house, which she said is vacant.

When police arrived, the officer heard someone running through the woods and saw a man inside the house. The police set up a perimeter and the man, identified as Perod, walked out of the house and surrendered, they said.

Police said trash was scattered around the house and in some spots, it was stacked as high as the ceiling. They said they could not locate the owners.

Perod was lodged in the Lawrence County jail on a detainer for allegedly breaking his parole. Police also filed one count each of burglary, criminal trespass and criminal attempt to commit theft against him Tuesday. District Judge Jennifer Nicholson set his bond at $10,000 on those charges.

It’s been a unique week on the marriage front. Actress Jodie Foster married her longtime girlfriend, while a lesbian trio that wed last year, who bill themselves as a “throuple,” have announced they are expecting. What’s your take on alternative unions?

I’m against it. I believe in one man, one woman.
I’m OK with it. As long as they’re adults, they can marry whoever they want.
A lesbian “throuple?” Really? SMH.
