Police: Man beat woman throughout day as her kids watched

NEW CASTLE — An Edinburg man is in Lawrence County jail on a $100,000 bond for reportedly beating a Scott Township woman.

Carl Richard Antoniazzi, 32, of 248 Harbor Village Drive was charged with aggravated assault, possession of drug paraphernalia, terroristic threats, unlawful restraint, simple assault, recklessly endangering another person and harassment.

According to state police, Antoniazzi began punching and kicking the victim when she woke up Saturday at her home and continued the assault throughout the day. He reportedly took her clothing, pointed a gun at her head and threatened to shoot her if she told police. He also held a screwdriver to her throat and threatened to stab her if she tried to escape, police said.

The victim’s two daughters, ages 7 and 11, witnessed the assault.

He was arrested at the scene. The victim was flown to a Pittsburgh hospital, where she was treated for a punctured lung and fractured ribs, bruising and swelling.
