Drivers injured in Union crash

NEW CASTLE — Two motorists were injured an a crash Wednesday morning in Union Township.

According to Union Township police, the collision occurred shortly before 7:30 a.m. at the intersection of Old Youngstown Road and Harbor Edinburg Road in the Harbor area.

Police said John Edwards, 32, failed to stop at the intersection and collided with an auto operated by Richard Eckert, 64, of New Castle.

After the impact, police said, Eckert’s vehicle hit a tree.

Both drivers were taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital. Their conditions were not available.

Police said both vehicle sustained major damage.
