Man grazed by gunfire

NEW CASTLE — A suspect remains at large following a shooting on Grant Street.

Police said a gunshots, about 9 p.m. Friday, grazed a man’s arm.

New Castle officers were called to Sampson Street, where a man said he had heard three gunshots. The police later found the victim, an 18-year-old, who said he had been walking on Grant Street when he was shot in the arm. He said he ran until he saw the police approaching. He told police he does not know who shot him or why.

He was taken by ambulance to the hospital, police said. Officers noted a bullet hole in the back bumper of a silver Jeep Cherokee parked in a lot near Sampson and Grant streets, and a spent bullet was found under the car.

Police Chief Bobby Salem said the officers are still looking into leads about possible suspects.
