Brush fire hits Union Township

NEW CASTLE — About three or four acres burned overnight in a Union Township brush fire.

According to Steve Stasko, Union Township Volunteer Fire Department chief, no homes were endangered, as the blaze was not near any occupied areas.

The fire was first reported at 2:10 a.m. off Fowler Lane. Firefighters from Union, North Beaver and Mahoning townships and South New Castle Borough worked to put out the flames.

Firefighters were at the scene about two and a half hours, Stasko said. He added no one was injured
