Two local bars face citations

NEW CASTLE — Two local bars are facing state liquor law violations.

Mulligan’s Restaurant and Lounge, 1403 Old Butler Road, was cited by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement on charges of failing to post a notice of suspension in a conspicuous place.

The citation stems from an earlier suspension, requiring placement of notification in a prominent site on the building Dec. 6 and 7.

Also, Bingo’s Lounge at 2001 W. State St. was cited by the bureau for failing to maintain beer dispensing system cleaning records during a check Nov. 6.

The charges in both cases are to be taken before an administrative law judge, who can impose fines and license suspensions.

A letter writer to The News has suggested there’s plenty to be negative about when it comes to the city of New Castle. In general, are you negative or hopeful about our city?

I’m negative. Nepotism, corruption, and incompetence have ruled for years. Nothing has changed.
I’m hopeful. I view the county as a whole, so there’s a lot to be positive about.
Mixed. I think we’re like any other area. You have to take the bad with the good.
