NEW CASTLE — Monday is the last day for residents to pay their 2012 city and New Castle school district property taxes.
The treasurer’s office at city hall will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday.
Taxes that are not paid by Monday will be filed with the Lawrence County Tax Claim Bureau.
The treasurer’s office accepts cash, checks or money orders.

The state fire marshal has determined a blaze at the Overlook Health and Rehabilitation Center was caused by carelessness. Trooper David Jungling issued his report Friday and said the blaze was determined to have been caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials.

Two people were injured in a pair of accidents Thursday, New Castle police reported. One involved a car that went over an embankment off West Pittsburg Road in Taylor Township around noon.

Police have charged four people arrested during a drug raid Wednesday in Union Township. Members of the Lawrence County District Attorney’s Drug Task Force executed a sealed search warrant at 27 Spring St. All four suspects live at that address, according to court records.
