Police have 'person of interest' fatal hit and run

NEW CASTLE — Police say they have a suspect in a deadly hit and run accident last week in Shenango Township.

According to Shenango Township police, officers have interviewed someone they described as a "person of interest." The name of that individual was not released.

Charles Walter Bobro, 55, of New Castle was found dead along Route 422 in Shenango Township late Friday. Apparently he had been walking along the road when he was struck by a vehicle, which then left the scene.

Police say a vehicle has been impounded in the case and is to be tested for evidence that may connect it to the hit and run.

The investigation is also awaiting information from the Lawrence County Coroner’s Office, Pennsylvania State Police Crash Reconstruction Unit and Pennsylvania State Police Forensic Unit. Shenango police said once all information is gathered, it will be presented to the Lawrenc County District Attorney's Office to determine whether to press charges.
