Men injured after car goes in creek

NEW CASTLE — Two men were injured after their car went into a creek on Locust Street Wednesday.

The men, who police said appeared to be in their 30s, were taken from the scene by ambulance. One was reportedly later life-flighted.

Police said the car was traveling south on a steep hill on Locust about 2:30 p.m. when it veered off the road to the left and went into a shallow creek at the intersection of Canyon Street. The vehicle landed upright in the creek. Rescue workers used a ladder to descend into the creek and pulled the men up the embankment on stretchers. Their vehicle was severely damage, police said.
