NEW CASTLE —
The New Castle High basketball continues to roll on.
The Red Hurricane rallied past North Allegheny 57-46 in a second-round PIAA playoff matchup at Slippery Rock University. It was the third time the 'Canes defeated NA this year.
New Castle, which trailed at the half, is now 28-0 on the season and will play Erie Prep on Saturday in a quarterfinal battle.

‘Carelessness’ caused Overlook fire
The state fire marshal has determined a blaze at the Overlook Health and Rehabilitation Center was caused by carelessness. Trooper David Jungling issued his report Friday and said the blaze was determined to have been caused by the careless disposal of smoking materials.

Two people were injured in a pair of accidents Thursday, New Castle police reported. One involved a car that went over an embankment off West Pittsburg Road in Taylor Township around noon.
