Broken jaw leads to assault charge

NEW CASTLE — A Pittsburgh man has been charged with aggravated assault for allegedly breaking another man’s jaw in New Wilmington.

Matthew Vincent Wagner, 22, was charged by New Wilmington police as the result of an incident early May 5 at the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity house on Waugh Avenue.

The victim told police he had observed Wagner and another male arguing. He said Wagner pushed the other male and appeared to be ready to punch him.

The victim said he then wrapped his arms around Wagner from behind to keep him from hitting the other person. Wagner allegedly broke free from the hold and punched the victim in the face, breaking his jaw.

In addition to aggravated assault, Wagner is charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment.

District Judge David Rishel ordered him placed in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond. Wagner’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for Thursday.

Malaysia Airlines Flight 17 fell from the sky in Donetsk, Ukraine, on Thursday, killing all 298 people aboard. Many are speculating that Russian rebels (supported by Vladimir Putin) are responsible for downing the aircraft. What do you think?

Yes. All evidence points that way.
No. Everyone is so quick to point fingers, but there's not enough evidence to support claims of Russian guilt.
I'm not sure. I'll just wait until the investigation is over to make up my mind.
What is up with these Malaysian Airlines planes? I know one airline I won't be flying any time soon...
