Police break up incident on Halco

NEW CASTLE — Charges are pending against a Halco Drive man and two juveniles who had expected to fight on Thursday afternoon.

New Castle police said a crowd had gathered in the 300 block of Halco Drive around 2:30 p.m. One man was said to have had a gun.

Officers stopped three men — two of whom are juveniles — as they walked away. No guns were found, however a 20-year-old was found to have a plastic bag containing white rocks of a suspicious substance in his pocket.

Police said he put the bag in his mouth and tried to swallow it but they grabbed him in a chokehold to prevent it. Then they removed the bag.

The two juveniles were released to their parents.
