Man charged with assaulting police officer

NEW CASTLE — Shenango Township police have charged a South New Castle man in the assault of a police officer.

John Drew Yough, 44, of 201 Caldwell Ave. has been charged with aggravated assault of a police officer, simple assault, resisting arrest, hit-and-run, failure to notify police of accidental damage to a vehicle and driving with a suspended license.

According to police, a Shenango Township officer was dispatched to the 1900 block of Morris Street for a report of a hit-and-run accident. Police observed front end damage to a car, then followed tire tracks to a pickup truck with front end damage and pieces of the grill that had been found at the scene of the crash.

The Shenango officer, assisted by a New Castle officer, then went to the home of the truck’s owner. The owner said his father had been driving the vehicle at the time of the accident.

When the father, Yough, went to the door, he told the officers to get off his porch, then struck the city officer in the chest, knocking him off the porch and onto his back, police said. Yough then landed on top of the officer and police wrestled him into custody and took him to the Shenango police station, officers said.

He was released on $50,000 bond.

On Wednesday, the House of Representatives voted to authorize Speaker John Boehner to sue President Obama for allegedly overstepping his legal authority with the way he's handled Obamacare. Good call?

Yes. Obama's been overstepping his authority since day one in office. It's time he pay the piper.
No. The allegations are ridiculous and the law suit is a waste of time and tax payer money.
I don't know. I'm not a huge fan of Obama, but the suit seems a little extreme.
