NEW CASTLE — Marijuana worth more than $1 million was found when a plane was seized at the New Castle airport.

According to District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa, the arrest of the Utah pilot over the weekend led to additional charges when he was allowed to complete his cross-country trip and make a connection with the buyer of the drug in Rhode Island.

Ken Barton Burrows of Orem, Utah, faces local charges of possession with intent to deliver the $1.2 million worth of marijuana. However, authorities — including the U.S. Department of Homeland Security — will have to work out the details of the case and who has jurisdiction.

A complete story with more information will be published in Wednesday’s edition of the New Castle News.
