Fire displaces family

NEW CASTLE — A fire in Mahoningtown Sunday night displaced a family of five.

The Red Cross has assisted the family, one adult and four children, with emergency needs.

The city department responded to a fire in a vent and light fixture combination in the bathroom of a house at 307 N. Lafayette St. around midnight. The fire spread to the attic, causing an estimated $5,000 in damage, according to the department.

Penn Power was contacted to turn off the electricity.

Firefighters were on the scene for about 40 minutes. The cause was undetermined.

No, that would be weird.
I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
