Neshannock police warn of burglaries

NEW CASTLE — Neshannock Township police are warning residents about a rash of burglaries in the community.

The break-ins during recent days have been reported along Mercer Road, Sunset Drive and Deer Run.

Police said the burglaries occur during the daytime. The thieves focus on money, jewelry and electronics, according to officers.

Based on tracks observed in the snow, police said, at least two people are involved in the crimes. Evidence indicates the individuals walk from house to house, knocking on doors and looking into windows, until they find an empty home to burglarize.

Residents who see any activity fitting this description are being urged to call 911.

Police also encourage residents to make sure all doors and windows are locked and to turn on any alarm systems.
