NEW CASTLE —
A resident of New Castle and a man from New Kensington have been indicted by a federal grand jury in Pittsburgh on charges of bank robbery and violating federal firearms laws.
U.S. Attorney David J. Hickton announced the four-count indictment that named Regan Tevin Pierre, 20, of 410 E. Lutton St. and Mario Lanair Robinson, a/k/a Donovan Noris, 24, of New Kensington.
According to the indictment, Pierre and Robinson committed an armed robbery of the Fidelity Bank at 1009 Perry Highway, Pittsburgh, Oct. 17 and during that crime of violence, a firearm was used, carried and brandished.
Also on Oct. 17, Robinson possessed a Ruger SR 22-caliber, black semi-automatic handgun. Because of a prior conviction for a felony offense, Robinson is prohibited under federal law from possessing a firearm.
The law provides for a total sentence of not less than seven years and up to 25 years in prison, a fine of $250,000, or both.
The FBI, Ross Township, West View, North Regional and Ohio Township police departments conducted the investigation leading to the indictment.
