Lawrence County among areas with deadly heroin

NEW CASTLE — A type of heroin linked to 22 deaths in western Pennsylvania has been seen in Lawrence County.

According to a prepared statement issued Monday by Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen G. Kane, the heroin involved is mixed with the narcotic Fentanyl.

Kane said, “Together, these drugs are creating an extremely dangerous and potentially lethal combination for users. The heroin is believed to be in bags stamped with the words Theraflu, Bud Ice, and Income Tax.”

Along with Lawrence County, Kane said, narcotics agents have reported seeing bags in Beaver, Butler, Armstrong, Westmoreland and Allegheny counties.

“We are working with the Allegheny County Police Department, the Pittsburgh police and their counterparts in the region to get this deadly mix of heroin off the streets of western Pennsylvania,” Kane added, “and to arrest and prosecute anyone caught selling, distributing and producing these drugs. We are contacting hospitals, medical examiners and police departments in surrounding areas to be on the lookout for these specific stamps of heroin.”

Anyone with information about the drug and its source has been asked to contact the Bureau of Narcotics Investigations at (800) 442-8006.

It’s been a unique week on the marriage front. Actress Jodie Foster married her longtime girlfriend, while a lesbian trio that wed last year, who bill themselves as a “throuple,” have announced they are expecting. What’s your take on alternative unions?

I’m against it. I believe in one man, one woman.
I’m OK with it. As long as they’re adults, they can marry whoever they want.
A lesbian “throuple?” Really? SMH.
