NEW CASTLE —
Rural Avenue was the site of two accidents Friday morning.
New Castle police said that in the first accident, about 9 a.m., a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Patti Kelley, 50, of 419 E. Leasure Ave., rolled over.
A second accident occurred in about the same location shortly after 10:30 a.m. when a man in a red pickup truck lost control while coming down the street. The truck left the road, striking trees.
The man was in the truck with three children. No injuries were reported to police.
No further information was available.
Kelly told police she had been headed down Rural Avenue but lost control of her vehicle while negotiating a curve.
She said the vehicle began to spin in the right-hand lane, left the road, struck the hillside and flipped onto the driver’s side in a ditch.
Police said Kelley was helped from her vehicle through the rear door by city public works employees who happened to be in the area at the time.
Kelley was taken to Jameson Hospital after she complained of pain, police said. Her vehicle was towed.
