Car hits pole near Cascade Galleria

NEW CASTLE — No injuries were reported when a woman hit a power pole on the city’s South Side.

Police said the accident occurred around 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the 300 block of South Jefferson Street.

Stephanie Marie Larreau, 32, of 1209 Huron Ave. told police she was nearing the entrance of Cascade Galleria when a red Dodge Charger pulled in front of her from the parking lot. She said when she slammed on her brakes to avoid hitting the other car, she lost control of her car and hit the light pole.

The pole’s base was damaged and leaning toward the road, according to police.

Larreau drove her car from the scene, police said, and Penn Power was notified of the pole damage.
