NEW CASTLE —
A West Side man is facing charges after police said they found suspected marijuana in his car.
Brandon Haswell, 37, of 12 N. Lee Ave., allegedly had the substance packaged for sale as well as 45 partially smoked marijuana cigarettes and two marijuana cigars, according to reports.
New Castle police said Haswell was pulled over on West Washington Street around 11:20 p.m. Friday for having an expired registration sticker. Officers said they smelled a strong odor of marijuana and a police canine indicated the presence of narcotics.
They impounded the Chevrolet Suburban and upon searching Haswell’s car with a warrant, they found a pill bottle containing three plastic bags with 4 grams of suspected marijuana, along with the cigarettes and cigars.
Haswell is charged with possession and possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He was arraigned by District Judge Melissa A. Amodie, who released him on nonmonetary bond pending a preliminary hearing.
