Police: ‘Very intoxicated’ man facing assault, endangering charges

NEW CASTLE — A West Pittsburg man was jailed after he allegedly punched a woman and threatened her daughter with knife.

Chad Victor Booher, 29, of 119 Center Ave. faces multiple charges filed by Shenango Township police after an incident Monday evening at a home on Hollow Road.

Police said they were called shortly after 7 p.m. regarding a woman being assaulted. They arrived to find the woman and her 9-year-old daughter.

Officers were told Booher had left the house and they went into a wooded area to look for him. Booher came out of a garage after being commanded to do so by police.

When officers told Booher to raise his hands, he instead made obscene gestures, they said. After multiple commands, they said, he got on the ground and was handcuffed. Officers described Booher as “very intoxicated.”

However, police said, he then resisted being taken into custody. Officers said they subdued Booher and put him in a cruiser.

The woman told police Booher had struck her multiple times and the girl described how he had held a knife to her abdomen. The girl said Booher had been laughing during the incident with the knife, as if it were a joke. Police said she was not injured.

Booher was charged with four counts of simple assault, three counts of harassment and one count each of endangering the welfare of a child, corruption of minors and resisting arrest.

He was arraigned by District Judge David Rishel and lodged in the Lawrence County jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Tuesday.
