Police probe deadly shooting at Crestview Gardens

NEW CASTLE — New Castle police are investigating a fatal shooting in the Crestview Gardens housing project that occurred Friday nightt.

According to Lawrence County District Attorney Joshua Lamancusa, a young male, who was a resident of McKeesport, died at the scene.

The homicide occurred shortly after 7:30 p.m. at 1110 Pin Oak Drive.

Lamancusa said Friday night that leads related to the shooting were being pursued, but no arrests had been made. The district attorney said it was not clear why the victim was in New Castle.

The identity of  the victim was not released. Other sources indicated the man had been shot in the head.

Lamancusa said the man had been shot multiple times with what appeared to be a small-caliber gun.

Asked if the shooting might be connected to one in which a teen was injured Thursday evening at Crestview Gardens, Lamancusa replied that authorities are "not sure," but he reiterated that leads in the case were being pursued.
