Biker injured in crash

NEW CASTLE — A motorcyclist was listed in stable condition at Jameson Hospital after an accident at 1:30 p.m. yesterday.

Pennsylvania State Police said Charles A. Rice, 73, no address given, was traveling south on Route 19 in Slippery Rock Township and approaching Grant City Road when he failed to stop for a pick-up truck that was stopping in front of him.

The motorcycle Rice was driving struck the rear bumper of the truck, then slid across the road, coming to rest on the northbound shoulder.

Rice was transported to the hospital from the scene.
