Officer injured in accident

NEW CASTLE — A Mahoning Township police officer sustained minor injuries in a traffic accident Saturday on West State Street.

Union Township police reported that Patrolman Ryan Tanner, 23, said he was westbound in the 2700 block of West State Street, Union Township, about 2:07 p.m. when another car turned into his path.

The driver of the other car, Mary A. Janacone, 73, of New Castle, was cited for a left turn violation, police said. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.

Tanner sustained minor injuries, according to police, and was taken to Jameson Hospital by Mahoning Township Chief Jim Morris.

I don’t know. Next time I’m alone, I’ll ask.
