Woman hurt as car strikes transformer

NEW CASTLE — A New Castle woman was injured when her vehicle rolled over and hit an electric transformer in Scott Township Sunday.

According to state police, Cassandra L. Yough, 20, of New Castle told police she had been traveling south on Heckathorn Road at 12:10 p.m. when she swerved to avoid hitting an animal.

Yough lost control of her car, which hit a mailbox before striking the transformer and rolling over, about a quarter mile north of Countyline Road.

She was taken to Jameson Hospital by ambulance with unknown injuries. Police said she would be cited for failing to drive at a safe speed.
