NEW CASTLE — At least one person was hurt in a three-vehicle accident at the Wilmington and Mitchell road intersection.

According to Neshannock Township police, the crash occurred around 10:45 p.m. Thursday while the light at the intersection was on flash following a fireworks program at Pearson Park.

Police said Dacia Neely, 17, of 1713 Hart St., was headed east on Mitchell Road but failed to stop for the flashing red light at the intersection.

Her car was struck by a vehicle headed north on Wilmington Road driven by Erin Borowicz, 48, of 136 Borowicz Road, New Wilmington. The Borowicz car then hit a vehicle driven by Rebecca Masri, 52, of 134 S. New Castle St., New Wilmington, which was stopped on Mitchell Road.

Police said Masri was taken by ambulance to Jameson Hospital for what were described as moderate injuries. The other drivers and passengers involved in the accident refused treatment.

All three vehicles had to be towed, police said. The Neshannock Township Volunteer Fire Department assisted with traffic control at the scene.

Police said Neely would be cited.
