Boardman man charged in Pulaski burglary

NEW CASTLE — A Boardman, Ohio, man faces charges in the burglary of a Pulaski Township residence last month.

State police are charging Steven James Direnzo, 41, with burglary, theft, receiving stolen property, conspiracy and criminal trespass.

Police said the resident of the house contacted them at 6:55 a.m. June 11 saying she had been awakened by a loud, pounding noise. When she got out of bed, she encountered a man in her kitchen. The man went toward the bedroom and she left the house. She said she also saw a woman going down her back steps toward a white pickup truck.

The resident called a neighbor who told police that the man and woman, who was driving the truck, fled north on Route 551.

On June 12, during an investigation of a stolen Jeep Cherokee, Boardman police discovered the pickup truck. It was towed to the Boardman police department where officers observed jewelry and items marked with the Pulaski resident’s name in the passenger compartment.

Police later obtained a search warrant for the truck and another search warrant for Direnzo’s residence, where a pillow case was found containing numerous pieces of jewelry and casino cards belonging to the Pulaski resident.
