Teen accused in pistol-whipping robbery

NEW CASTLE — An East Side teen has been arrested for allegedly robbing a man and hitting him with a gun.

New Castle police said Forrest Gilmore, 18, of 818 Hazel St., was one of two men allegedly involved in the robbery reported around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on Lincoln Avenue.

A man told police he had been walking toward West Lincoln Avenue to go to visit his cousin when four males confronted him. One of them, identified as Gilmore, and a juvenile, hit him with a gun and stole his gold neck chain, then beat him to the ground, he told police.

Police said the victim was reluctant to provide information about what had happened.

Gilmore is charged with robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery, theft, conspiracy to commit theft and receiving stolen property. He also faces two counts of simple assault.

He was arraigned by District Judge Scott McGrath, who set his bond at $5,000.
