Woman arrested for drunk driving with children

NEW CASTLE — An East Side woman is facing multiple charges for allegedly driving drunk with children in her car.

Genevieve Hasson, no age available, of 768 Frank Ave., was pulled over by New Castle police about 9 p.m. June 24 when officers saw her driving a blue van in the wrong lane through Crestview Gardens. The officers said they saw the van weaving from side to side and crossing the center lines.

As the van neared the intersection of Frew Mill Road at North Cascade Street, police said, it went onto a curb and nearly struck three pedestrians.

The officers tried to pull over the van but it continued onto South Cascade Street and eventually stopped at Melrose Place.

As an officer approached the driver’s side, Hasson refused to put the car in park and the officer noticed two children, ages 10 and 5, in the back seats. The officer opened the driver’s door, applied the emergency brake with his foot and ordered Hasson from the car. She did not comply, according to police reports.

The officer then took her by a wrist and assisted her out of the car. Police said she pinched his fingers with her fingernails as he tried to handcuff her.

Police said the van had fresh damage to its fender, mirror and wheel and wood was lodged in the fender but the juveniles in the vehicle appeared to be uninjured.

Police said one officer found the van’s side mirror lying near two damaged phone poles at the intersection of South Cascade Street and Grandview Avenue.

Hasson submitted to a blood alcohol test.

She was charged Wednesday with two counts of endangering the welfare of children and recklessly endangering another person, and one count each of  fleeing and attempting to elude officers, driving under the influence, reckless driving, careless driving and accident damage to unattended vehicle or property.

She will be issued a summons to appear in court.

I have and it was a success! It's a great way to get rid of some junk and make a little extra pocket money.
I have, but it didn't go over so well. Better luck next time?
I haven't yet, but I plan to.
