Police seek assault suspect

New Castle police are seeking a woman who allegedly threatened to stab a man Thursday morning.

Officers said they will charge Kayla Koszela, 23, of North Mercer Street, with aggravated assault, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and criminal mischief.

According to police, officers were called to the 900 block of North Mercer Street about 12:20 a.m. Thursday.

A resident told police Koszela had come home, apparently intoxicated, and pounded on the front door. He said she broke a window in the front door and went up the stairs yelling. The man told officers Koszela had grabbed a steak knife and had gone toward him. He said he ran to his room and she followed, threatening to kill him. When she began stabbing the door to his room, he said, he called 911 and she ran out of the house, throwing the knife in the yard.

Officers said they observed the broken front door window and a black-handled steak knife in the yard.

Police said they were not able to locate the woman.
