Fire marshal to probe camper blaze

NEW CASTLE — The state police fire marshal was called to investigate a blaze that destroyed a Bonanni Road camper.

Jeff Parish, chief of the Volant Volunteer Fire Department, said the 67-year-old resident of the 1989 Prairie Schooner camper trailer was not at home Tuesday when the blaze broke out.

Parish said the camper was parked in the backyard of a Plain Grove Township residence. He said firefighters received the call about 1 a.m. Tuesday and remained at the scene for about an hour.

Participating were 25 firefighters from volunteer departments in Volant, Scott and Springfield Township in Mercer County.
