Man flown to hospital after stabbing

NEW CASTLE — New Castle police thought they’d settled an argument.

Just as they were leaving, though, the disagreement apparently heated up again, and one man was stabbed.

Robert Morris, 50, of 701 N. Cedar St. was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center in Youngstown following the incident that began shortly after 6 p.m. last night. His condition were not available.

Police said they were called to the address for a report of a dispute. Morris, had been arguing with Jason Wilshusen, 27, also of 701 N. Cedar St., about forcing Wilshusen to move out, police said.

Morris’ daughter, police added, is Wilsushen’s girlfriend.

Morris was advised about eviction procedures, and officers were preparing to speak to other parties involved in the incent when an unidentified woman ran out of 701 N. Cedar St., shouting “He stabbed him, he stabbed him.”

Morris then came stumbling out of the doorway, and polce observed several stab wounds. Officers began emergency care on him until paramedics arrived.

Police arrested Wilshusen and charged him with one count of criminal attempt to commit homicide, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of simple assault and possession of an instrument of a crime.

That instrument, police said, was a kitchen knife, which officers found in the tank of toilet, where Wilsushen allegedly tried to conceal it.

Morris suffered stab wounds to the left hip, left shoulder and armpit area.

Wilshusen was taken to Jameson Hospital for what police termed “unreleated medical issues.”

Milwaukee catcher Martin Maldonado has been suspended five games for sucker punching Pittsburgh’s Travis Snider during a bench clearing brawl on Sunday. You OK with that suspension?

Yes. Seems fair.
No. Baseball NEVER gets it right in these situations. Should have been at least 20 games for his sucker punch into a pile of players.
Not sure, but I’d love to see baseball be like hockey and allow two guys to fight for a while before breaking it up. Let’s see how tough Maldonado is then.
