New Castle YDC scheduled to close

NEW CASTLE — The Youth Development Center in Shenango Township is scheduled to close next month.

Local lawmakers confirmed they were informed Monday by the Corbett administration of the closure.

The official closing is Feb. 15.

Operations at the local facility were scaled back significantly last year, with the number of youths housed there reduced.

The YDC is operated by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare and serves juveniles who have committed serious crimes.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
