Police: Gunman robs Union bank

NEW CASTLE — First Commonwealth Bank in Union Township was robbed Tuesday night.

The holdup at the bank, located in the Walmart plaza on State Street, was reported around 6 p.m., the time that branch closes.

There were no reports of injuries, but authorities were told the man who had robbed the bank had a gun. Supposedly, he left a clip for the weapon at the scene.

The robber also was said to have had netting of some sort that was used to conceal his face.

After the robbery, police in the county were looking for a black Nissan Altima believed to have been used as a getaway vehicle. It was last seen traveling east on the Route 422 bypass.
