Firefighters pay tribute to Jack Stoner

NEW CASTLE — Fire trucks with flashing lights lined up outside Northminster Church on Wednesday, paying tribute to John C. “Jack” Stoner.

Stoner, former Union Township fire chief and volunteer firefighter for more than 50 years, died April 26 at age  79.

More than 100 firefighters from throughout Lawrence County paid tribute to Stoner at Cunningham Funeral home Tuesday night in Neshannock Township.

A memorial service was held Wednesday at Northminster Presbyterian Church on Wilmington Road, where ladder trucks crossed, denoting a firefighter has died.
