NEW CASTLE —
A fire damaged a house on Route 208 in Wilmington Township Tuesday morning.
New Wilmington Fire Chief Dick Wilson said the blaze began in the living room of the house at 4483 Route 208, located about halfway between New Wilmington and Volant.
The room was “pretty much burned up,” he said, while the rest of the one-story house had heat and smoke damage.
Nobody was home at the time, he said. Firefighters were able to save one dog, but another dog perished, he said.
The state police fire marshal was called to investigate to determine the cause of the fire, Wilson said.
The house is owned by Frederick Davison, according to the county assessment office.
Firefighters received the call around 9:50 a.m. and were at the scene for about three hours, Wilson said.
New Wilmington was assisted by Neshannock Township, Volant and Pulaski fire departments.
