NEW CASTLE — A portion of the Route 422 bypass westbound in Lawrence County was closed Tuesday because of bridge damage.
According to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the bridge that carries the highway over the Shenango River, west of the Route 168 exit was found to have structural damage.
The damage was discovered Tuesday morning by crews that were painting the bridge. Cracks were found in a support beam.
Westbound traffic was being routed onto Route 168.
