Fatal shooting victim identified

NEW CASTLE — A man found shot to death on Moravia Street this morning has been identifed as 35-year-old Robert Brown of New Castle.

Lawrence County Coroner Rich “R.J.” Johnson said he pronounced Brown dead where he was found around 2:45 a.m. He said an autopsy is to be performed at Heritage Valley Health System in Beaver County this morning.

Johnson said he could not discuss how many times or on what part of his body Brown had been shot, pending autopsy results.

 UPDATE, 8:15 a.m. — The New Castle News has learned of a shooting death in New Castle this morning.

Police said a man’s body was found inside a van off Moravia Street. He was apparently shot to death.
