Police file theft charges

NEW CASTLE — New Castle police filed theft charges after a car sale fell through and the dealer refused to return a deposit.

Police said theft by deception and receiving stolen property charges were filed against Anthony L. Olbrych, 51, of Alvaretta Boulevard.

Officers said they were contacted Friday by a 31-year-old North Hill resident who said he had been attempting to purchase a vehicle from Olbrych of Car Solutions on Croton Avenue. The buyer said he was told to make a $100 deposit for the vehicle he was attempting to finance, and later told to provide another $500 “to show the bank he was good for the financing.”

The would-be buyer said he provided the cash and received receipts, but decided he did not want the vehicle when he could not get financing.

He said Olbrych had refused to return the deposit and he had been unable to contact him.
