Numerous accidents reported Sunday

NEW CASTLE — Several traffic accidents were reported Saturday and Sunday because of snow-covered and slippery roads.

However, there were no reports of serious injuries.

About the same time, another car was reported on its side on Old Pulaski Road, but no injuries were reported. Also Sunday afternoon, another accident was reported on West State Street at the intersection of Lower Idlewild Drive. A Union Township police spokesman said none of the accidents were serious.

An Ohio woman was cited in another weather-related accident. At 6:45 a.m. Saturday, a 2005 Ford Escape driven by Heather D. Anderson, 40, of Poland, Ohio, was traveling east on Route 224 in Mahoning Township when it began sliding, then went off the road, over an embankment and struck a ditch.

Anderson was not injured, according to Pennsylvania State Police. She was cited for unsafe speed.
