Child injured in bus crash

NEW CASTLE — One child was reported injured in an accident Wednesday morning involving a Neshannock school bus and a car.

Neshannock Township police said the school bus and a Buick sedan collided at the intersection of Wilmington Road and Maitland Lane around 8:30 a.m.

Police said 17 children were on the bus and one of them complained of neck pain. There were no other injuries reported.

Brenda Ritt of Blews Way was the operator of the bus and Norma Frengel of Hunters Woods Boulevard was the driver of the car, police said.

Both vehicles appeared to have minor damage, but the car had to be towed, police said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.

The Lawrence County commissioners have decided to solicit proposals for the private operation of the county jail. Good idea?

Yes. If it’s a more efficient way to run the jail, I’m all for it.
No. I think there would be too many questions of liability for the county.
Not sure. The county seems to be doing a good job of running the jail now. Why break it if it’s not broken?
