NEW CASTLE —
An Ellwood City man is wanted by police in connection with three burglaries in Hickory, Wayne and Perry townships.
The three break-ins occurred on Vinegar Valley Road in Wayne Township on June 12, Barkley Road in Perry Township on June 22 and on Reiber Lane in Hickory Township on July 20, according to state police.
On Tuesday, troopers, after a four-month investigation, charged William Edward Balin Jr., 22, of 1003 Sunset Blvd. in connection with all three of the alleged incidents. Police said they are looking at one or two other suspects as his alleged accomplices.
In the Vinegar Valley Road break-in, three televisions were reported stolen.
The resident of the Barkley Road house reported that a television, a wooden case containing jewelry, money, a .38-caliber pistol and an XBox game system were stolen.
Several items of jewelry were reported stolen from the Reiber Lane burglary.
Police said they linked Balin to the burglaries by receipts from jewelry and pawn shops were the alleged stolen items were sold.
Police said Balin later confessed that he committed the burglaries with accomplices. He told police they drove to the houses in his grandfather’s car.
He is charged with three counts each of burglary, criminal conspiracy to commit burglary, criminal trespass, theft and criminal mischief in connection with the three alleged burglaries.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.

Christopher Klingensmith, 38, of Vine Street, James Cracraft, 39, of Randolph Street and Thomas Klingensmith Jr., 40, of Bellair Drive, pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy before U.S. District Judge Arthur J. Schwab.

A South Side man was arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop on the city’s North Hill. Martel Lamar Webb, 19, of 199 Hamilton St. had been wanted by police on charges in a domestic assault case in May when police caught up with him.
