NEW CASTLE —
A New Brighton man wanted in Beaver County is facing gun and domestic violence charges in Lawrence County.
New Castle police took Chaston Harris, 20, into custody Tuesday at an apartment in Harbor Heights.
Police said he had assaulted a 25-year-old woman in her apartment, hitting her repeatedly in the head and face, choking her and throwing her onto the floor. She told police Harris had threatened to kill her if she called the police. She left the apartment later while he was sleeping and notified the police that he had a gun.
Officers said they found him sleeping in a second-floor bedroom with a loaded .40-caliber handgun on the floor next to the bed. Officers arrested him at gunpoint.
Police learned Harris was wanted on an outstanding warrant from Beaver County for aggravated assault and other charges.
Police said charges are pending against Harris for the gun and domestic incident.

South Side man faces gun, drug charges
A South Side man was arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop on the city’s North Hill. Martel Lamar Webb, 19, of 199 Hamilton St. had been wanted by police on charges in a domestic assault case in May when police caught up with him.

Woman charged for assaulting 1-year-old
A New Castle woman was arrested and charged with the assault of a year-old child in Scott Township. Nicole Martin, 26, of New Castle was arraigned before District Judge David Rishel on a charge of simple assault. She was lodged in the Lawrence County jail on $1,000 bond.
