Marijuana, cash seized in traffic stop

NEW CASTLE — Two men were arrested Saturday after police found cash and marijuana during a traffic stop.

New Castle police reported that they pulled over a car driven by Isaac Anderson, 26, of 606 Raymond St., around 10:52 p.m. on East Street downtown for not having its headlights on.

Police said the passenger, Antonio Deshawn Gardner, 29, of 1109 Booker Drive, dropped a bag containing 5.5 grams of marijuana on the street as he got out of the car. Police searched both men and found $346 on Anderson and $220 on Gardner. Police said they also recovered loose suspected marijuana while searching the car.

Anderson is charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, driving without a license and driving without headlights. Gardner is charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of a small amount of marijuana.
