SRU projects $10M deficit

SLIPPERY ROCK —

Slippery Rock University is expecting a $10 million deficit for fiscal year 2014-15.
The Butler Eagle reports that President Cheryl Norton told trustees last week that the university is addressing the deficit through work force reductions, cuts in operating budgets and by increasing revenue.
SRU spokeswoman Rita Abent says that each division has been asked to cut costs by 9 percent. But some departments may only be able to cut 5 or 6 percent, and others may be able to cut more to compensate.
Abent says the school will try to maintain a 20-1 student-to-faculty ratio.

Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal signed “unprecedented” legislation yesterday to expand gun rights in his state. Good idea?

Yes. Expanding the scope of where people can carry guns can help halt violent crimes and make those places safer.
No. Carrying guns into bars and schools is NEVER a good idea. I think it will lead to more violence.
Not sure, but I don’t plan to visit Georgia any time soon.
