NEW CASTLE —
The preliminary hearing for a man accused in the death of his infant son has been rescheduled to next week.
The hearing, initially set for Tuesday morning, has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Dec. 19.
Terrance Murphy, 21, of 124 Park Ave., is charged with criminal homicide, and aggravated and simple assault in the death of his 6-week-old son, Terrance Murphy Jr.
He remains in the Lawrence County jail, where he is being held without bond.
According to police reports, officers were called to Jameson Hospital at 1 p.m. Nov. 30 where they were met by Lawrence County Coroner Russell Noga and a doctor, who told them a baby that had arrived by ambulance had died.
An autopsy determined the cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head and the death was ruled a homicide.
Murphy was arrested at the Castleton Apartments on North Mercer Street.
